A retired Jackson Twp. farmer, Corenlius Allen, 90, died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday at the home of fhis daughter, Mrs. Isol Shelton of Crawfordsville. He had been ill several weeks. He was the son of Isam and Lydia Nolan Allen and was born in Parke County May 30, 1853. Survivors besides Mrs. Shelton are 3 sons: Omer and Emory of Wingate and Ethan of Garfield, IN and two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Pickell of Wallace and Mrs. Viola Giddings (Gooding) of near Wallace

Cornelius V. Allen, son of Icam and Lydia Nolen ALlen was born in Parke County, Indiana May 30, 1953, passed away July 21, 1943 age 90 years 1 month and 21 days. He was the last survivor of family of six children. He was united in marriage to Harriet Sowers April 12, 1879. Four sons and five daughters were given to this union, all except two daughters survive the father. The mother died Aug 30, 1923. Since that time he made his home with his children. Mr. Allen spent his entire life with the exception of two years in Iowa in Parke County, Indiana as a farmer. A good husband, father and neighbor, honest, upright in the dealings with his fellowmen, a hard worker, a good citizen and many friends. Survivors are Omer and ? (Dafford) Allen of Wingate; Ethen Allen of Garfield; Arney Allen of Kingman; Mrs. Lydia Pickett and Mrs Viola Gooding of Wallace; Mrs. Ical Shelton of Crawfordsville; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Seven grandsons are in the service of their country, two overseas. "Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me, And may there be no moaning of the bar, When i put out to sea."

Cornelius V. Allen, 90, a lifelone farmer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ical Shelton, 507 Franklin St., at 5:25 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. He had been ill 3 months with a complication of diseases. Mr. Allen was born May 30, 1853, in Parke County, the son of Isam and Lydia Nolen Alen (sic). He was married to Harriett Sowers, whop receded him in death on August 30, 1922. he was a member of the Baptist Church. The survivors include four sons: Omer Allen of Wingate; Emory Allen of Wingate; Ethan Allen of Garfield and Arney Allen of Wallace; 3 daughters, Mrs. Shelton at whose home he died; Mrs. Viola Gooding of Wallace and Mrs. Lydia Pickett of Wallace; 34 grandchildren and 14 greats. The remains were removed to the Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home where services will be held at a time to be announced later.
